Pack Roleplay

Edwyn was by now, lost.
However, this gave him more of an incentive to keep following Sakura, as she would probably know the way back.
Although I could just follow the tracks..

Sakura jumped out of the tree onto the ground below. "Thanks alot-" she stopped when Suki saw it was Edwyn that had followed her. "Uh, what exactly were you doing just now?"

Edwyn was not the least bit surprised when Sakura came from nowhere, asking him a question.
"What am I doing, what are you doing, sneaking off in the middle of the night to who-knows-where?" He asked.

"Ah, but I was not the one who followed myself... Okay that made no sense." Sakura blinked.
"You probably doubt my loyalty, but I am not yet a member of the pack, unless you forgot that."

"What are you talking about? Paddie already accepted us into the pack. He has just not given us ranks yet."
He said, remembering earlier in the day.

"Didn't he say that he would talk it over with the leader?" Sakura blinked again. What was this wolf getting at?

"Yes. Organize scouting missions with the pack leader." He said.
"But that's not the point, I asked, what are you doing in the middle of the night so far from pack territory?"

"Maybe I should ask you that?"

"You were acting suspicious, so I followed you all the way here. Clever way of hiding your tracks by the way."
He said.
"Which brings us back to question number 1."

"Exploring."

"Yeah. In the middle of the night. without telling anybody," He said, sarcasm dripping off his voice.

"Like your 'adventure' with the... dogs."

"that was inside pack borders."

"Your point? Also, shouldn't you be checking to make sure they're not attacking camp as we speak?" Sakura quickly grew tired of the conversation and turned around. She walked into the undergrowth and vanished.

"Well, that's cause I'm kinda lost..." He said and turned around, hoping to stumble back into camp.

After a few steps, Sakura paused and looked behind her, seeing Edwyn leave. He would make a good friend you know. You need all you can get. the she-wolf shook her head and continued to walk, this time she faster before going into a smooth sprint. After a few minutes of a full out run, Suki stopped at a clearing. Fog swirled around the mystifying lake and several other shadows near it.
"Cherry Blossom, you have arrived." A shadow at the far side of the lake stepped into the moonlight in front of it, illuminating the wolves' sharp features and many scars.
Suki dipped her head in respect. "Yes, I see we are missing none but one. When shall Cricket arrive?"
"Cricket will not be attending this moon. Perhaps next meeting."
"As you say, Swift Wind." Suki stepped in line next to the lake, almost completing the circle around the waters except for one spot, where Cricket would normally stand. In unison the wolves chanted an opening line.
After the chant, Swift Wind walked forward until his paws were almost touching the crystal clear lake. "As packless loners, we are free. We fight our own battles, yet are one. We will rise to greatness in time, one fight after another. Cherry Blossom, step forward." Suki complied. Swift Wind continued, "We have a new spy. Your intense hours of training has paid off in the long run, for this is the most hard-earned position in the Force. Welcome again, Cherry Blossom." At that, all the wolves in the circle nodded their heads' and muttered praise. Suddenly Swift Wind hissed, "Fie!" and, in the blink of an eye, they all were gone leaving Sakura to herself. The she-wolf nodded before turning around and traveling back to her territory.

Red kept walking, but she had the feeling she wasn't going the right way. Oh well - at least she would be able to find someplace new , even if it wasn't a gigantic, magnificent river (even if there was one in this territory). Maybe she would find a rock formation or something. That was the thing about wandering: it might seem dangerous, but if you were open-minded enough you might find something really cool.

The ground began to slope downwards a bit, and Red guessed that there would indeed be a river - if not a dry bed. Usually that was what the gentle slope meant, but all she had to do was keep walking.

Just as she had suspected, the scent of fresh water soon reached her nose. She was getting close, but she couldn't smell any other wolves... she was either upwind of them, or too far away. She hoped it was the latter as she trotted further down the slope.

Blackwind had spent the day searching for something to eat; she had found a bird but nothing much, and faint hunger was clawing at her. But she would satisfy that later; the sight of the sky was too exquisite for her to pass up. She was back at the dens, sitting and gazing up at the indigo sky with bright yellow eyes. Faint starlight shimmered on her fur, tinting it with silver. She smiled as she looked down her nose and moved her head across the sky, watching the stars with wide and amazed eyes. She hadn't seen a sky this clear in a long time... or maybe she just hadn't bothered to look. Happiness filled her heart; she had other wolves, a place to stay, and best of all, a beautiful sky to enjoy...

Paddfoot spent the evening sitting in the shadows of a tree and silently gazing on the humans who had set up camp and were chanting. There were something about these people that kept him intruiged. He examined their faces that lit up in the flickering light of the campfire. He felt as if he recognised them but as soon as that feeling came it disappeared. Paddfoot sighed and looked on, his ears trained on the dogs that were watching over them. Paddfoot slowly crept around the thick bark of the tree to get a better look. His clumsy shufling, however, snapped a twig that was nestled in some grass.

One of the dogs lifted its head and looked straight at Paddfoot. Paddfoot stood up and prepared to run, he had nothing against these wolves masquerading as dogs. However the wolf-dog just sat there and smiled. Paddfoot was momentarily stunned as the other dogs started asking what the female could see. Before they had a chance to see the intruder Paddfoot sprinted back to the den, shocked and confused. He had never seen a dog use a smile to defend themselves and honestly it worked better than using their claws.

Paddfoot ran into the den, almost tripping over Blackwind as he passed.

Sakura arrived near the dens just as the sun was rising. She had made sure to roll in some wild garlic to cover her faraway scent. She knew she should eat but saved that for later. "Hey." Suki barked a greeting to the two wolves and trotted up to them. She turned to Paddfoot. "Could we start a hunting patrol?" she asked.

"Yes ok..." muttered Paddfoot as he tried to shake that wolf dogs smile out of his head. Although the smile in itself didn't bother him, it was the feeling that that wolf knew who he was, it was almost friendly.
"Hunting party, Yes let's go!" Paddfoot jumped up and ran out into the forest as his immature self took over his personality in a split second. "C'mon I know a great place!" shouted Paddfoot to Sakura as he leapt around impatiently ahead of her.

Sakura glanced behind her, one paw raised, almost speechless at the bouncy wolf behind her; his sudden change of mood caught the she-wolf off guard. Finally she turned around and silently trotted after Paddfoot. "Great place, eh?" Suki muttered to herself, weaving between trees as she went.

Blackwind grinned, almost crying out with pleasure, and ran after the other two who were beginning a hunting patrol. She easily kept pace with them, but the enthusiastic energy that pumped through her stride was obvious. She followed Paddfoot to this "great place," hoping she could show what she could do. "What's it like?" she asked excitedly while running, her tail wagging furiously.

Sakura took up the end of the 'patrol', making sure not to lag behind. What the she-wolf really wanted to do was run - just run. Not a race, no. Suki didn't do too well with competitions, unless she really wanted to win. She grimaced when she heard her stomach growl and felt a sharp, but faint, pain shoot through her. "ugh." she mumbled before Suki noticed she was lagging and started to keep the same pace as the rest of the patrol.

Paddfoot stopped and crouched low. Before the patrol laid a perfect grazing ground for elk and as ususal a small group were happily going about their business, casually walking around with their heads down to munch on the juicy green grass that grew there. A few rays of sunlight penetrated the canopy and lit up the area, showing off the colours of the plants that surrounded them.

"Ok..." whispered Paddfoot, "Which one do we go for?"
