Pack Roleplay

"Oh great, physically demanding work. So much fun!" Edwyn muttered, but followed Riley.
"Uh, Hunting, Paddie. Where do you guys usually go hunt? " He said.

"We hunt where there's food." Rile ystated simply. "And if I'm right... there should be a herd of elk.. here." She grinned as they came to a wide open field. A rather small elk herd was grazing about on the grass, unaware of the wolves.

Riley began circling the herd in a wide circle, trying to pick out an easy target.

Edwyn was about to make a smart remark when they finally arrived to a pack of wild elk. Checking and making sure he was downwind, he focused and picked an old elk at the edge of the herd that seemed to move with a limp.

He waited for the Alphess to make the first move.
It what you do in a pack, right? he thought silently.

Paddfoot lowered his body and started creeping towards the herd. When he got close enough to the centre of the field but still out of detection by the herd. He waited for the panic to set in on the herd as Riley makes her move. He momentarily looked back to see what Edwyn was doing as he was naturally curious about what a lone wolf would do in this situation.

Riley impatiantly rushed the herd, singling out the old cow. She nipped at it's legs, driving it closer to Paddfoot and Edwyn.

Paddfoot leapt out of cover when he heard the herd panic. He quickly spotted the target who was heading straight for him. Paddfoot ran straight at it with his eyes closed and forced it to dive to the right, pushing it ever closer to Edwyn. He quickly turned in relief to see that he was trampled and gave chase doing the same stuff Riley was doing to tire the beast/

Edwyn springed in action, chasing after the cow with great speed. Quickly guesstimating his chances, he decided to try and bite at the elk's neck.

He felt himself get off the earth, opened his mouth, got closer...
And chomped on the Elk's ear.
D'oh!

Flux nodded to Riley to signal that he was going to try and take it down, although he hadn't actually told her that that is what he meant when he nodded. He ran up beside the elk carefully to not startle it and he bobbed his head in time with its moving leg. He waited for just the right moment when he was synchronised to its movements...

Paddfoot quickly clamped onto its front leg and he forced it to stumble and crash to the floor. What he hadn't intended in his plan was for it to fall on him. With a yelp he was lying dazed underneith a warn out old elk.

Edwyn felt the elk go down, and he let go of its ear "Pssshhh, I could have done that.." He said silently.
Edwyn looked around for Paddie, but had no luck until he heard muffled sounds underneath the carcass.
"Ouch."He said, dragging the elk off Paddie.

Riley skidded to a halt as the elk came tumbling down on Paddfoot. She jumped over the elk, landing next to Paddfoot. She gave a small teasing grin. "You must not be putting yourself in danger now mister." But she became more serious. "Are you alright?"

"Uuggghhh what just happened?" he asked not really with it at that moment. He soon perked up along with a thumping headache. "Oh it just had to do that...but...oh right, I took down the beast wooo!" Paddie's tail suddenly turned onto ultra-fast-wag mode and it stayed on that setting for quite a while.

"He just got a full-body-smackdown. You lead him back into the den,while I drag the carcass."
Edwyn said.

Riley sighed, containing a fit of laughter. "Well, lets get you back to the den then." She helped him stand up, allowing him to lean against her shoulder as she walked him back to the densite.

As she returned to the den Riley set Paddfoot down, just inside the den entrance. She sat down near him, her back to him as she gazed outside. Riley looked up at the sky, dark with light grey clouds. She sighed, rain would be coming. But she couldn't help but get excited about it; she longed for rain to come, it was always refreshing. Though Riley controlled herself she let her tail wag furiously behind her, hitting Paddfoot in the head a few times.

"Ummph, ooh... hey cut it out!" Paddfoot playfully nipped Riley's tail as it wagged towards him. He sniggered alightly when he heard the inevitable yelp which was made louder by her suprise.
"Haha got ya!" he said while smiling. He still had a headache but he could easily ignore it when he was teasing somebody.

Riley looked over her shoulder at Paddfoot, chuckling. "What? Isn't a wolf allowed to get excited over a coming storm?" She swatted his ear with her paw before standing up. "You hungry? I can go get you something."

Paddfoot wagged his tail happily at the sound of food being offered, "Sounds good" he yipped excitedly. Paddfoot stood up just as the first drops of rain fell.
"Uggghh shower time..." he grumbled as he watched the droplets get heavier and fall faster. Soon he found himself sheltering in the den while happily chewing on a piece of meat that was given to him by Riley.
"So Riley does this mean I can start taking meat from the meat store again?" he asked politely.

Riley looked at Paddfoot. He seemed so hopeful. "I don't know..." She said, looking away, lifting her muzzle up in the air a bit. "Can I trust you to not give strangers our meat without my permission?" She grinned, of course she was teasing him but she wouldn't let him know of it.

"Awww, that's a no..." Paddfoot's tail stopped wagging and his eyes broke contact with the meat he was chewing on. He whinned for a second until the smell of the meat regained his attention and he returned to shredding what was left on the bone, completely oblivious to what had just happened a few moments ago.

Riley didn't relly expect to him submit in defeat so quickly. She sighed, her fun had been lost. She shuffled her paws, suddenly feeling uncomfortable. The cream she-wolf pushed up from the ground, shook her fur and padded out of the dry cave to the pounding rain outside. She flinched as the rain began to drill down on her. But dismissed it, walking over to a nearby tree she curled up. I was not as wet under the tree, though rain still found a way through the leaves to reach her, it just didn't hurt as much.

Paddfoot growled happily as he gnawed on the last remaining bone. He held it in place with his two available paws while he chewed with his head tilted slightly to let his teeth sink in properly. He persisted for a while longer until the bone eventually gave way and split open, revealing the tasty marrow inside. Paddfoot made a strange high pitched squeak in delight before tending to the exposed marrow.

A few minutes later Paddfoot found himself on his back as the sensation of a full stomach took over. He made a half hearted attempt at rolling over and eventually settled to watching the rain fall, backing off from the entrance to the den slowly as a small puddle started to creep in.

"Noo! back off! If I wanted to get wet I'd go to the lake..." shouted Paddfoot at the puddle. A few seconds later he released an annoyed huff as the puddle ran past him, leaving his paws in a small measure of water. "Ugghh it's cold...how can you stand it Riley?" he said as he reluctantly decided to come out and sit next to her.

Paddfoot underestimated how heavy the rain was and his slow, uncertain walk suddenly turned into a frantic dash to the tree. He shook his fur causing it to stand on end for a while until the rain falling down the tree gently patted it back onto his back. He looked up the tree after a large droplet crashed onto his head and a long evil smile spread across his face. Paddfoot jumped onto his hind legs and leaned on the tree. He used his extra height to grab onto a branch and he shook it with all his might. All the water the tree had collected suddenly fell all at once and drenched everything underneith. Paddfoot let out a childish giggle when he got back onto all four paws.

Riley lifted her head as Paddfoot approached, dashing across the short distance in an effort to escape the pouring rain. She shook her head slightly, parting her jaws in a chuckle. "So you've decided to brave it out?" She asked, watching him as he lept up on a branch, shaking it. She quickly turned her head away as water droplets began to shower down on her. The she-wolf stiffled a growl as her fur got soaked. Riley resisted the urge to lash out at him; flicking her tail back and forth in frustration.

"Hehe now we're both wet..." he chuckled as he sat down near her. He made sure he gave Riley a bit of room as she was starting to twitch again. He made the mistake of not noticing it once...

"I still don't understand why you like this." he muttered as he watched the clouds darken as if they were preparing to burst with electrical energy.

"I find it more soothing than being in that stuff den.. And by the size of that puddle we would've gotten wet anyway." Riley sighed, grining. "Out here there's no wall to trap us in, Your just more aware of your surroundings when yo-" Riley was cut off as aflash of lightning struck the ground, though it was a little ways of the following thunder seemed to rip through her ears. Riley jumped up in shock and found herself sitting behind Paddfoot, her head low while her ears were pinned against her skull.

Paddfoot looked down at the cowering Riley, "Oh..." he said out of a small suprise. He found that lightning didn't bother him that much, he knew that if he didn't anger the sky he wouldn't get struck so his lack of fear was all based out of a false confidence. At least his theory hadn't been proven wrong...

Paddfoot huddled closer to Riley and wrapped his tail around her to try and comfort her. For once he seemed to change personalities and suddenly a new Paddfoot arose in an attempt to successfully navigate this sensitive situation. "It won't strike us, it won't even come near us..." he mumbled in a comforting tone.

Soon after he said that another bolt of lightning flashed through the branches and stems of the canopy above followed by a mighty BOOM of the thunder. Paddfoot could of sworn the ground shook just after that,

"And I thought this would be just a simple little rain shower..." Riley mumbled. She ducked down lower to the ground as another flash of lightning danced across the sky. Riley lowered herself to the ground, hiding her head between her paws.
