Pack Roleplay

"Oh it's not that bad, I actually think it's kinda pretty in a way...such power yet it can only last for a fraction of a second...amazing!" Flux watched the sky intently as he admired the display. However his performance was cut short when he noticed that Riley was looking a little stressed. He quickly returned to comforting her and huddling closer even though part of it was for his benefit as the rain was starting to make him cold.

Riley could tell Paddfoot was shivering, and it began to concern her. "Your col, we should go back to the den." Riley got to her feet and quickly bolted for the den without hesitation.

Once in the dark shelter Riley went straight for the back of it. She curled up into a ball, her heart racing as another flash lit up the den as well as the clearing outside. She whined and huddled back against the den wall.

Paddfoot calmly followed Riley inside, shaking his fur just before he entered. He didn't know what to do to help Riley so he continued with the plan he had already laid down and he followed Riley to the back and huddled next to her once more. This time, however Paddfoot was dry and he knew he would slowly warm up again. So at least that was one problem solved even if it was shadowed by the other problem.

Riley closed her eyes, trying to block out the loud cracks of thunder. She eventually succeeded in falling asleep. Riley's dreaming didn't last long though. The thunder began to find a way into her dreams, waking her up. She sighed in defeat and rested her head on Paddfoot's paws, accepting the support and comfort. "I hope this storm blows by quickly." She grumbled, watching the rain shower down outside. Though her attention was soon drawn to the small little waterfalls that poured over the top of the den's entrance to a small puddle that was forming below.

"I hope so too..." replied Paddfoot in a calming manner. Paddfoot watched outside as the rain continued to pour and seep into their den. There were puddles forming around his paws now and the fur on his belly seemed to be getting even more wet. He grumbled but he knew it was better than being outside so he put up with it.
"I think the den's leaking," he said jokingly in an attempt to lighten the mood.

Riley chuckled. "It seems to be." She rolled over onto her stomache and stood up. She barked and jumped into a nearby puddle, sending the water flying everywhere, soaking everything in it's path.

Paddfoot smiled, "I see your fine now!" Paddfoot quickly glanced outside and it did feel like the worst had passed. "Ok then I think we're even now..." he said as he shook his fur dry once more, "Ok no more or it's war!" he shouted with a large mschievious grin.

A lone black wolf ducked her head as she padded slowly through the rain-drenched land, her pelt pushed to her small build by the unrelenting downpour. She flattened her ears against her head and narrowed her golden eyes, feeling like she smelled something else. It was the faint scent of other wolves, she noticed, and suddenly stopped. She ducked down lower with her tail tucked between her legs. As curious as she was, she didn't want to make anyone angry. The small, young-looking wolf whimpered to herself, turning around and walking away, faster this time. Her eyes kept trailing back to the den, and she finally stopped to look over her shoulder, wondering if anyone was really there. The rain made it hard to tell, but the wolf -- or wolves -- could well have been on its way.

Blackwind jumped at another flash of lightning, her tail swinging into a bush. Great, they'll find me now! she scolded herself mentally, breaking into a run that was as fast as her legs could carry her. But she unintentionally stuck her paw into an area of damp mud in the grass, and slipped with a yelp, falling onto the ground. Her chest was heaving and she felt as if she didn't have the energy to get up, even though fear was pumping through her...

Paddfoot suddenly found himself growing restless of the cave and since he was already wet, he thought he might as well go out for a run. He couldn't actually remember the last time he patrolled the borders. That was another little problem he had, he has never been very consistent in his job and has often needed 'reminders' from Riley to get him moving. Some wolves have wondered how he has not been demoted to the punishment ranks but they usually haven't seen the other side to him.

He shook his fur one last time and held his breath as he entered the rain. Once suitably drenched he called back to Riley that he was going out for a run before racing off like he had been stung in the rear.

Riley watched as Paddfoot ran out of the den. She looked around the den, it suddenly felt very cold and empty. She sighed and dashed out after him. "Hey, wait up!" She shouted.

"Well ok but don't slow me down!" teased Paddfoot as he slowed himself to a jog to let Riley catch up. As soon as they were side by side Paddfoot smiled, "The first one to get to the really big tree at our border wins! Three, two, one... GO!"
with that Paddfoot ran as fast as he could towards the tree, quickly dodging all the other trees and the obstacles laid before them on the ground. He darted to the left, narrowly avoiding a face plant into a wall of bark, followed by a huge leap over a fallen log that hadn't quite made it to the ground. Paddfoot smiled but kept on running knowing that his opponent was no average wolf.

It took Riley a second to understand what Paddfoot had said but as she saw him bolt off she quickly followed. The cream she-wolf dodged and leapt over the obstacles before her, ignoring the heavy rain that was soaking through her fur down to her skin. She grinned as she started gaining on Paddfoot. Though she did lack strength when hunting, running was her thing. She gave a smug grin as she ran at an even length with him.

"Two wolves, built for speed, are running side by side, who will win? well let's find out!" Commentated Paddfoot as he dodged yet another tree. He had another large smirk on his face and he used all his remaining strength to squeeze a small lead on Riley. The finish line was fast approaching all he had to do was keep his nose ahead....

Riley could tell Paddfoot was getting a slight edge on her. She growled and pushed herself faster, dodging yet another tree. She could see the big tree ahead and tried to push her paws faster. Riley could feel herself gaining and passing Paddfoot. She parted her jaws to bark, though it was cut short as her paw hit a root of a large oak nearby. She yelped as she tumbled to the ground, ramming into the tree. Her body slowly rolled down the tree trunk to the ground, "Ow.. my head.." She grumbled.

After making sure she was ok, Paddfoot smiled and started laughing, "Congratulations you won, but when I said to the tree...you only had to touch it not faceplant it." Paddfoot smiled and gently swiped Riley in the face with his tail. "I'll try harder next time!" he said with a small giggle.

Riley frowned and swatted up at the laughing male. "Hey it's not funny. It really hurts." She rolled over onto her side, her back facing towards him. Through all her efforts, Riley couldn't resist a smile; it was really quite funny.

"Oh sure it does..." teased Padfoot with a sarcastic tone of voice, "Hehehe only kidding!" he then again gently pushed Riley over just before she stood up.
"C'mon Riley grab my tale and I'll pull you up..." Paddfoot could see his offer going horribly wrong...

Riley grinned as Paddfoot offered her his tail. She latched her teeth onto it and gently pulled backwards, not enough to hurt him but enough to make him fall backwards. She laughed and stood up, steadying herself for a moment as she got dizzy. "Thanks for the help." She said, her tail wagging behind her.

Paddfoot soon found himself sitting in the soggy earth and he breathed a sigh of relief, "At least my tail doesn't have teeth marks in it." He got back up and laughed, "Nice one...out of all the things I wasn't expecting that! C'mon let's check the rest of the territory before the den is overrun without us even noticing.

"Alright." Riley trotted off without another word, she was intent on patrolling now. She flicked her tail as she went along, finding herself lost in the forest surrounding her. The lightning and thunder seemed to have stopped, leaving behind a small drizzle as the storm started moving off to the east.

Paddfoot felt happy that everything was now at a constant pace. He calmed himself down and began scanning the area for anything, like he usually does. It was nice having company aswell, it makes any encounters a lot easier.

Riley nearly squeled with glee at the sight of a nearby stream. She rushed towards it, skidding to a halt at it's bank. She lowered her muzzle to the water and lapped it up greedily.

Paddfoot held his head high and casually walked up behind Riley in a zigzag fashion until he was side on to her. Then with a quick flick of his hips he pushed Riley head first into the stream.

Paddfoot laughed a lot before he realised that he needed to run away...so he did.

Riley yelped in shock as she plunged head first into the water. She climbed out only to see Paddfoot fleeing the scene. She shook her head slowly, she knew he expected a chase so she decided to dismiss his little "attack" for now, and just get revenge later. Riley shook her fur, sending water drops everywhere before trotting on, continueing the patrol.

Paddfoot slowed down and admired the scene when he realised Riley wasn't chasing him. He slowly headed back to the den not really sure what else he could do.
